The Rectory | Suffolk

suffolk rectory

When our clients first approached us, they were ready for change. Having owned their Grade II listed Georgian rectory for more than 15 years, their four children were in the process of fledging the nest and the house now felt large, overwhelming and lacking the heart and soul it had once had. Things had got to the point where the one of the homeowners wanted to downsize.

We have worked with the family to create a home that the entire family can once again fall in love with. Building depth, atmosphere and character to the already beautiful bones. Adding layers, texture and patina.

Spaces have been reimagined, our signature balance of light and shade introduced and moments of delight created throughout. A disused playroom has been converted into a cosy library, complete with a secret bar! The guest bedroom now feels like a smart boutique hotel, but with a nostalgic, homely twist and the balance between light and airy tranquility and cocooning darker spaces creates a home that continues to delight and nourish at every turn. The work has breathed new life into the house and importantly, there has been no more talk of selling!

secrets and surprises

The unused children’s playroom was converted into a serene and inviting library whilst a hidden bar creates unexpected delight in what once housed a television.
